District Readies for Back to School on July 20, 21

Students and staff in Las Cruces Public Schools will welcome a new school year on a balanced calendar on July 20, when classes start in the 2022-2023 school year for kindergarten, sixth and ninth grades. The first day for all other students will start school on July 21.

Generalized school supply lists were published on the LCPS website in June. Parents are always cautioned to finalize their student(s) supply lists after the first day when teachers might provide additional guidance on what will be necessary in class throughout the year.

Parents are also reminded to ensure students are up to date on all required immunizations prior to the start of school. New Mexico school nurses are granted public health authority by the New Mexico Secretary of Health for collecting and submitting immunization information. According to LCPS administrators, bus transportation for all routes will be available for the start of the school year. If you need assistance locating your bus stop, or to sign up for text message alerts about your bus, please click here.

Last year, LCPS launched a new smartphone app for parents and families to stay connected to important news and information from the district. The app is free and available on the App Store for iPhone users and Google Play. Just search for “Las Cruces Public Schools” to download. For more information about the LCPS app, please click here.
