Picture of Film Prize Junior Crew 2023

Dear MVLA,

I want to share our Film Prize Jr. Update.

I'm thrilled to have been able to start up a media class this year at MVLA and this is our first student film!  I had 18 student participants this year.  Students came up with the story concept in December and committed to two months of movie production.  Students wrote the movie script, acted, filmed (multiple cameras, lights, and mics), and edited using Adobe Premiere Pro.  The final film package was submitted on March 7th.  Package included: the 3-7 min. short film, movie poster, and behind the scenes interviews and pictures.

It’s finally time!!  This Saturday, April 1st is the Film Prize Jr. Film festival!  There will be 93 films from throughout New Mexico that will be featured this year (middle & high school).  Unfortunately, MVLA will not be able to travel to Albuquerque this year for the live event, but it will be shown virtually on their website:  https://www.filmprizenm.com

I encourage all of you to log in on Saturday, April 1st to watch our film, “Let’s Watch a Movie”, and vote!  Voting for “Viewer’s Choice Awards” is only open on April 1st.  Spread the news and get as a many people you know to vote.

Awards will be on Sunday, April 2nd.

Note:  I will be submitting this film into the Las Cruces Public Schools Film Showcase as well.  Students and families will have the opportunity to watch their film on the big screen at Cineport on May 24th /25th.  I will keep you updated about this event.
